Principal Technical Writer

Saagie aims to accelerate the time-to-value of business innovation by making data projects less complex. To do this, we have created a DataOps platform for data engineers, enabling them to bring together the most popular technologies to deliver and run data projects easily, quickly, and reliably. The people behind the platform are an amazing group of individuals based in Paris and Rouen, all working towards the same goal: enabling our customers achieve great things with their company’s data. We’ve been named one of the 120 most promising startups by the French government’s French Tech initiative—and this is just the start of our incredible journey! Our team won’t rest until we’ve found a different way to take every data project from proof of concept (POC) to production. We are looking for our new Technical Writer to join our Product Team ! MISSIONS 🎯 Working closely with the development teams using agile-like methods, and under the responsibility of the VP of Product, you’ll be in charge of all client-facing documentation for Saagie, the DataOps & AIOps platform. As the sole technical writer at Saagie, you’ll have the following responsibilities: *Collaborate cross-team to collect information from subject matter experts, including but not limited to developers, product managers, technical support, operations, and marketing. *Write, publish, and maintain all client-facing documentation, including technical, developer, and user documentation, using a docs-as-code toolchain. *Validate and publish contributions from colleagues. *Incorporate feedback from colleagues and customers to improve the documentation. *Review UX text in English as needed. *Contribute to internal developer documentation as requested. *Maintain internal documentation on technical writing processes. The whole product team is remote first in terms of management and organization. PROFIL & ATTITUDE 🧐 *You’ve worked in a software environment, so you know what technical documentation should look like. *You’ve produced documentation for multiple audiences including developers and end-users. * You have experience with Git and Git clients such as GitHub and GitLab. * You are comfortable maintaining documentation across several repositories. * You’ve authored in a lightweight markup language (we write in AsciiDoc). * You’re comfortable working with a static site generator (we use Antora) and you’re not hesitant to ask developers for help with the SSG when needed. (Bonus if you have experience with tools like Netlify and Algolia.) * You understand the importance of screenshots and visuals in documentation, including when they’re not needed, and you’re comfortable producing them yourself (we currently use Snagit). * When visuals are more detailed, you’ll collaborate with your colleagues from design. * You’re comfortable in French and have near-native English proficiency. At Saagie, all day-to-day responsibilities, including meetings with subject matter experts, Slack conversations, etc, are conducted in French, and the written documentation is published in English. * You have good communication skills and are not afraid to reach out to colleagues for information and assistance. * You have a strong teamwork mentality. * You're excited by the world of data & AI. (Bonus if you have experience working with or documenting common data-related technologies, like Jupyter, RStudio, etc). * The position is limited to France Overseas. GOOD TO KNOW Nos valeurs chez Saagie 💕 Personne ne se ressemble chez Saagie. Mais ce qui nous rassemble est notre humour, notre bienveillance et l’envie de construire quelque chose ensemble.
